This guide will teach you how to use your USB flash drive to install/start an operating system. This is extremely handy and useful when installing an operating system (Linux, Windows) on a laptop/computer that doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. It seems hard to make a bootable USB especially when you are doing it for the first time. Worry not here comes an easy-to-follow and step-by-step guide that can help you to create a bootable USB. You can make a bootable USB bootable on a Windows by using RUFUS which is a free, light- weight and easy to use program. Rufus is a program that allows you to format and create bootable USB flash drives. Despite its small size, Rufus provides everything you need! Oh, and it is fast.
Important Note: This guide requires USB formatting that will remove all the data from your USB so please make a backup.

- You should have an empty and working USB.
- An ISO of your desired OS (Windows or Linux) that you wish to use.
- Download the Bootable USB creation tool.
- Open The downloaded tool.
- Select your USB drive, select your ISO, choose your formatting options and hit Start.
- Once Done your USB is ready to use.
In this guide we are going to use Rufus that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives. It is a light weight and easy to use tool that works on Windows.
Step 2: Open the Rufus tool and choose your USB drive.
Step 3: Click on SELECT button and choose your desired operating system (Windows or Linux) ISO.
Step 4: After selecting your ISO make other settings similar to mine or choose according to your needs and hit START button. It will take 5~15 minutes to create the bootable USB based on your USB speed and size of your ISO.
Step 5: Once Done! Your bootable USB is ready to use. Just plug it in your computer or laptop to install a fresh windows/Linux OS.
